Need help paying for a deposit on accommodation?

Crisis SmartMove is a rent deposit scheme which helps you get accommodation in the private rented sector. SmartMove offers the landlord a guarantee in place of a cash deposit and supports tenants. There are currently 25 Crisis SmartMove schemes around the country. Click here

Need help paying for a training course, buying tools for the job or setting up a business?

Crisis Changing Lives awards offer people who are homeless, or settling into a home, financial support and practical help to improve their skills, confidence, employability and chance of becoming independent. The award might be used to attend a training course or help buy tools and equipment necessary for a course or even to set up a business. Click here for

Free activities for homeless people in London

Crisis Skylight is an innovative activity centre for homeless and non-homeless people based in the heart of the London's East End. It offers a wide range of free creative, musical and practical sessions in an informal and friendly atmosphere. Drop by and have a look at what's on offer Monday - Thursday from 2 - 9 pm or Friday from 2 -6 pm. There is no need to pre-register. For more information on Crisis Skylight.

Free training courses leading to a qualification

The Crisis Learning Zone offers free training courses at Crisis Skylight. These include IT (ECDL & CLAIT), literacy and numeracy, communication skills, English for speakers of other languages, and personal development. Need work experience and qualifications?

The Skylight Café is located at the Crisis head office in East London. Under the guidance of an experienced Café manager, homeless trainees can gain valuable work experience and receive individually structured training leading to recognised qualifications in Food Hygiene, Customer Care and Health and Safety. Trainees work less than 16 hours a week so benefits are not affected. More information on the Skylight Café.

Need shelter, help, advice and medical care over Christmas?

The Crisis Open Christmas from 23 - 30 December offers shelter, medical services, training and food over Christmas. Seven venues provide skills training & activities, companionship and crucial medical services. Above all it provides companionship at a time of year which can be particularly hard.
